Career Advice I wish I had
"So, what do you want to do in life?"
I was a 4th year undergrad in university when my research supervisor asked me this. It was an embarrassing moment for me because I realized that I spent all my time studying to do well in courses, but in doing so I spent no time thinking about my own future and what direction I wanted to go. Not only did I not have an answer to that question - embarrassingly, I didn't even have an idea how to even start thinking about it.
Fast forward 9 years later: after making numerous mistakes, reading stuff, and listening to other people talk about their figuring-out-what-you-want-to-do-in-life adventure, I think I finally have something to say to myself in my 20's (and teens).
The following illustrations contain things that helped me figure things out for myself. Although I can't show these to my younger self, I thought I'd put my thoughts down here in case you find parts of it useful. Not everything will work for everyone, but if there's one thing that works for you... that is what these pictures are for.
Fun fact: I made these back in 2020. I think they were the first manifestations of my desire to become a Career Coach. I debuted 3 years later.
